Over the Past 30 years, the Korean population policy was characterized as a fertility control program with a major component of family planning. However, it is exclaimed that the direction of population policy has to be changed, since the
fertility
level has been contineoulsely decreased from 6.0 of total fertility rate in 1960 to 1.6 at the present time.
The population policy, therefore, is further emphasized as an integral part of national development and family welfare program. Under this circumstance, the present paper described the future direction of population policy, focused on the
improvements
of quality of life, family welfare and population quality.
